Reflections from the 2025 BAI Momentum Conference in Vegas

Last week, I had the chance to attend my very first BAI Momentum Conference in Las Vegas — and honestly, it exceeded every expectation.

Being new to the franchise development world, I didn’t know exactly what I was walking into. I figured it would be a good chance to meet people and learn more about the space — and it absolutely was. But what stood out most was that this wasn’t just a conference… it felt like a community. A high-energy, supportive, idea-sharing, hot air balloon-launching kind of community. (Because, yes — there were actual balloons.)

Beyond Deals: BAI’s Deeper Value

Most broker organizations bring value by connecting brokers with brands in their portfolio — and BAI does that well. But what stood out to me is that they’re also focused on educating, elevating, and equipping everyone involved — brokers, franchisors, and candidates alike. It’s about more than just deals. It’s about creating real opportunities, real relationships, and long-term wins for everyone at the table.

From Zoom Screens to Handshakes

One of the biggest highlights? Finally meeting people in real life who I had previously only talked to through online meetings. Virtual meetings are great, but there’s just something different about sitting across from someone, grabbing a coffee, laughing in between sessions, and talking shop without a screen in the way.

Those moments built trust faster and stronger than any scheduled call could. And honestly? That’s what this industry is all about — relationships. Not transactions.

Franchising 101… and 201… and 501

Since I’m still learning the ropes, I came in ready to listen and soak up everything I could — and BAI delivered. We talked about how brokers and franchisors can collaborate better, how to manage pipelines without letting deals drift, how candidate behaviors are shifting, and how to keep momentum (yep, see what I did there) from first touch to final contract.

I left with a lot of insights — and even more questions. Which I think is a good sign that I’m in the right place.

My Biggest Takeaway

Whether you’re a broker, a franchisor, or someone just starting to explore franchise ownership… here’s what I came away with:
This business moves at the speed of trust.

When brokers and brands work together, when candidates are educated instead of pressured, and when values line up on all sides — that’s when real growth happens.

I’m grateful for the people I met, the ideas I took home, and the momentum (yep, still leaning in) that came out of the week. If we didn’t get a chance to connect in Vegas — let’s change that. I’d love to learn more about how we can work together.

Here’s to building something meaningful — and doing it with good people.
